during my visit to Daily Serving (which i in fact do on a daily basis OMG) i found that the artist posted today, Whitney Lynn (awesome looky looky) had just received her MFA from SFAI. And after seeing her work and wandering into the links to the peers in her graduating class, i have just one thought, i need to get shit ton better in < two weeks.

i also ate an whole baby octopus. it could have been a squid, but for the sake of continuity i will call it octopus.

Did i mention the fabulous Kara Walker show at the Fort Worth Museum of Modern art while i was in texas?? No? Well it was breathtaking. honestly, haven’t taken a breath since. I can hold my breath for a long time. Like when i was ten i could go three length in my grandma’s pool without coming up for air.

Inspired by images of the antebellum south, Walker’s startling and poignant body of work addresses issues of race and gender with a wide variety of paper cutouts, video, puppetry, projection, painting and drawings.

i saw batman like everyone else.

san francisco trip was successful. though it started with my radio breaking the minute before we left town on a nine hour drive. but we made the best of it and i listened to Naked by david sedaris on danny’s ipod for three hours thinking how he was using such a non linear timeline until danny pointed out that it was on shuffle. we have an apartment secured. I almost hit a bear and two deers on the drive back.

I sold my painting in the blackfish gallery which makes me feel legit. now i just have to sell one each week for the next fifty years to prove it and to make a respectful living.. i don’t see anything hard about that.

Funny Games is a bazaar movie. i highly recommend it. In my head Michael Pitt can’t be anything except murderous creepy teen. he does it so well.

My friend Winona’s street cred just went through the roof as a portland right-wing radio talk show picked her out of a Times article to baste the intelligent left-wing youth our fine state. Its good to know that a highly cited yet insanely misinformed middle aged man who has made it all the way to regional radio is singling out a well-read couple in their early 20s simply because they had to change their summer travel plans and one of their last names’ happens to contain a hyphen. I had an incredible weekend. let me tell you why,

thursday: Anathallo Show at the Doug Fir. All things awesome. i’m sure alec will elaborate when he can.

friday: Zoo with meg and alec. meg quit her job to do this.

dinner at Porque No. best food ever. it’s on mississippi, go to it and eat. you’ll feel better about life.

beer at Amnesia for Meg’s Birthday

saturday: Bridgeport Brewery and other portlandy things.

sunday: graduation. Translation, sitting in the sun for 3 hours not listening to anything said because i was too mad at the world for having to sit covered in a black polyester gown.

good thing i didn’t wear sun screen cause i would have missed out on experiencing my eyelids sunburned.

Barbque at my house with all the people i love. made up for said sunburn.

I’m now tired, permanently full, and happy.
